Shortlist Desk

For program committees, before anyone scores

Shortlist DeskSet up your CFP review - and make blind review actually blind.

Paste the proposals your call collected. Free in your browser: the pool ratio against PyCon and KubeCon, the committee and the rubric that goes with it, the anonymization your call's promise allows, every speaker name, employer, link and pronoun hiding in a title or abstract, reviewer conflicts, organizer and sponsor submissions, the cut rule, the waitlist and the notification dates. A run writes the selection plan, or rewrites the proposals blind.

    How it works

The rubric follows the committee: a small consensus committee grades A to D with X for a suspected identity and reads grades as a best-worst pair, never an average, with at least one A as the floor; a multi-tier cascade scores content, originality, relevance and speaker in stars and passes the top 30% up twice; a distributed pool scores 0 to 3 and stops resurfacing a proposal at three reviews; solo curation is off the menu once the call promised blind review. The model and the reading load (ten minutes a read, a self-set rate) come from your slots, tracks, reviewers and hours.

Platform-level hiding removes the author field, not what the author wrote, so the page scans every title and abstract for speaker names, employers, links, handles, emails and gendered pronouns. A dedicated anonymizer is picked when financial aid rides on the form, when last edition left a fairness complaint, or when a small committee would recognize regulars anyway. Nothing here shows that blind review changes outcomes by demographic - it is a process commitment. Benchmarks are calibration, not targets: PyCon US 2025 selected about 15% of 938 proposals, KubeCon EU 2024 9% of 2,541.
